We love the internet at least as much as the next guy, but it’s also really fun to get people together In Real Life sometimes. Here’s a couple design events that we’ve organized and curated. More are definitely on the way – be sure to follow our news page or twitter feed for announcements.
After working with NYDesigns as a sponsor for our last show, Uncomfortable Conversations, we started thinking about future collaborations. And Laser Party was born! We invited a group of our favorite NYC designers to come hang out and have a night of free laser cutting and etching.
The night of the party, we tested out the capabilities of the NYDesigns prototyping lab, raised awareness about their services and design incubator, and introduced a whole lot of like-minded creative folks to each other.
Laser-cutting proved to be the perfect catalyst for conversations and networking. What easier way to meet someone new, than to ask about the design they just pulled off the machine?
A crowd of 60 people came out to the event, were introduced to a great resource in NYC, and had a blast watching as the designers turned their ideas into real, tangible, finished, laser-seared objects.
